The Mtwara Non-Governmental Organization Network (MTWANGONET) is a leading umbrella organization representing over 52 civil society organizations (CSOs) in Mtwara, Tanzania. Founded in 2004 and officially registered under the NGOs Act of 2002 in November 2008, MTWANGONET has been at the forefront of strengthening local civil society through capacity building, advocacy, and information-sharing initiatives. Our work focuses on empowering communities, promoting social accountability, and addressing critical issues such as gender, health, and youth.
With a robust governance structure, extensive networks, and strategic partnerships, MTWANGONET plays a pivotal role in advancing civil society participation in development and policy advocacy across the Mtwara region.

Our Mission
To empower and strengthen the capacity of all CSOs in Mtwara District, enabling them to provide high-quality services to the community through comprehensive training, advocacy, lobbying, policy analysis, effective implementation, and the development of a strong, collaborative network.
Our Overall Goal
MTWANGONET aims to enhance the involvement of civil society organizations and communities in public interest issues, as well as in the development, implementation, and monitoring of public projects. This is achieved through capacity building, awareness-raising, and advocacy both within Mtwara and beyond.
